Place // It's a BANNER day! I'm on the couch and not in my chair this time! But here's why...

This is Tibby. And I didn't have the heart to move him.
Time // 2:05 p.m.
Eating // Egg salad sandwich. We had a pot luck at church today and I took 2 dozen. brought back 4. They got good reviews!
Drinking // Coffee. Some things are just too good to change
Reading: A Wrinkle in Time ~ Madeleine L'Engle
This is one of those classic books that I somehow completely missed growing up. I blame all the Poe.

READING // Note from a Small Island - Bill Bryson
Still enjoy it! I love Bryson's writing!!

LISTENING TO // The Mayor of Casterbridge ~ Thomas Hardy
I've been enjoying this but I think I need to do only Lit-ish books the old fashioned way and keep some of the 'mainstreams' on Audio.
Finished  // Master & Commander ~ Patrick O'Brian
Far from my favorite book. Much Jargon. So boaty. Very buddies. Wow. It was sorta the Star Trek of the historical ship lit. kinda.
Watching // Gilmore Girls!! I'm actually looking now at the sets and thinking of doing some copy cat stuff to my own house since it's similar.
Music // Lots of Christian music this week.
Blogging // As you can see by the new look... I've been paying some attention to the blog. Now if I could just get it right! What spurred this?
http://www.bloggiesta.com/
I'm still playing around so expect the looks to continue to change. often :) Let me know if you see something that looks good!
Acquisitions // Got approved for a Net Galley book to start right after I finish Wrinkle.
Hating  // W.I.N.T.E.R. still.. why won't it STOP!
Loving // The consequences of good decisions. I was asked to give a sermon during lent for our Wednesday night worship. Wow!! Now that, boys and girls, is growth!!

Writing // I at least opened my WriteItNow program and am reading over what I have so far to spark where I want to go. hopefully
Avoiding // Bills. Bleck. I thought I had it whipped but then I heard that despite the fact that i"ve already filed, the IRS isn't opening up for submissions until the 31st. How dumb is THAT!
Feeling some more nudges towards some changes in my life. Hope to keep working with those ideas and feelings to do what's best!
Bracing for 40 below again tomorrow morning. <sigh> this gets old.

Sunday Salon January 19, 2014

It's stillllllll January. January just drags on it seems. But then I'm all about warm weather so maybe it's just me.
This week has seen a smidge of a semblance of normalcy eke back into my life. It's a start anyway...

Place // I don't even know why I keep answering this.. ALTHOUGH, I have plans to move to my office one of these days.
Time // 12:09 p.m.
Eating // Just had my weird version of 'tacos.' Much more like what people call super nachos. Crush a handful of tortilla chips on a plate. Pile allll taco fixings on top. I call is 'shoveling food' because I simply sit and shovel it in! :D
Drinking // Coffee. Just good official Coffee!
Reading: Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian
Im too vested now in this book to give up, but this is not my book. In no way shape or form. I hate it when I don't like a book my friends like and I have a very dear friend who adores this book. I'm sorry :(

READING // Note from a Small Island - Bill Bryson
Last week I said there was controversy about WHERE I'm reading this... <whisper> it's my bathroom book </whisper>. There are strong opinions on this! Like the great coconut debates! The cool thing is Bryson lends himself well to such halting readings. I love this book so far!

LISTENING TO // The Mayor of Casterbridge ~ Thomas Hardy
I've been enjoying this but I think I need to do only Lit-ish books the old fashioned way and keep some of the 'mainstreams' on Audio.
Finished  // Nothing finished this week.
Watching // Gilmore Girls!! I'm actually looking now at the sets and thinking of doing some copy cat stuff to my own house since it's similar.
Music // Hardly a note this week
Blogging // I actually remembered my new meme over on my other site on the day I was supposed to remember it !! Yay me!
Acquisitions // I don't think anything..
Hating  // W.I.N.T.E.R.
Loving // Progress towards some goals.

Writing // I need to pay more attention to this because I didn't really do much again this week.
Avoiding // At this very moment? House cleaning.
Both girls are back to college now so it's just me and the cat menagerie. And working on ways to stay focused through the rest of winter.

Place // Yup. My chair
Time // 12:38 p.m.
Eating // had a pbj just a bit ago
Drinking // Coffee. Just good official Coffee!
Reading: Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian
Im actually back to this. I took a side trip to YA dystopian-ville called Divergent.

READING // Note from a Small Island - Bill Bryson

There is a myriad of controversy surrounding not THAT I'm reading this book, but WHERE I'm reading this book. I've been reading it all fall however and enjoy it very much!!

LISTENING TO // The Mayor of Casterbridge ~ Thomas Hardy
When my kids are home from school I don't get the chance to listen in my car. They jack my stereo for their ipods. Back to listening this week.
Finished  // Divergent

3/5 stars. It was a fun read. Dystopian is one of my favorites. I saw the trailer for this and wanted to make sure I read the book.Especially after all the attention the series has had on the blogosphere. I think my expectations were increased by the trailer actually.. I was left a bit deflated. It's YA yes, but it wasn't that. It was more like the Twilight of Dystopian. Decent idea, decent plot, weak in the characterization and their motives (which may be fleshed out in the rest of the books, I dunno and probably wont to be honest.) I'll be looking forward to seeing the movie now, but I'm bummed I didn't like the book more.

Watching // Gilmore Girls!! One of my best friends have gifted me the seasons on DVD. I'm on the second! :)
Music // I have a lot I love and I'm gaining some I pretty much can safely say I'm not really a fan of. AND... I got the most amazing musical experience this week.  (see below).
Blogging // I think I posted something on my other blog.
Acquisitions // 4 awesome cook books for $5 bucks! Now if I just get the motivation to cook something!
Hating  // Since my last post ... my Dad died. It was the day after Christmas.  I really don't know what else to say about that. It's just too soon.
Loving // Good decisions. Makes me feel all warm and wooly inside!

Writing // Didn't actually put anything down but have tons of thoughts on it.
Avoiding // Mom still.

This week was so special. I got to go to a touring Broadway musical... and not just ANY musical... I, my girls, and my best friend all went to...
I am the biggest fan of their music in the whole wide world and this musical was such an amazing mash of culture and punk!! The perfomances were phenomenal!! My absolute favorite part were the conservatives in front of us who got up and walked out in the first quarter of the show. And then I spent the rest of the show in cold chills! I. Adored. This. Show.!!

....and I miss my dad.
